History of Making Aska
1200 Series
In 2001, Aska 1200 series
was created with strip beta-Titanium material with European designed eye
shapes and ultra-comfort temple tip. It is the first collection from
Okayama Enterprises Inc. utilizing flat, thin strip metal to achieve
light weight, comfort, in European appearance with innovative technology
and durability from Japan.
9000 Series
AK9000 will be formally introduced to the market in Vision Expo West 2006 in Las Vegas. It features our distinctive lens mounting system with a proprietary screw-less hinge that function like a spring hinge. The AK9000 collection is currently patented in the U.S. and Germany, and pending in many countries in Europe and Asia.
All current Aska collections are made with aerospace grade of stainless steel, which was further processed in order to establish the strength and flexibility required by its design. Aska only utilize “ion-platting” (or so called PVD) as its only finishing choice, which will meet the critical challenge on humidity and high temperature from South East Asia’s climate. It is non-allergenic and Nichol free.
With continues effort in R&D, Aska collection is setting the new standard for the eyewear industry.
8000 Series
Riding
the success from the 1200 series, AK8000 series was created after an
extensive 2 years of study in material science and precision tool
making. The proprietary unique lens mounting system allows opticians to
us
e
any type of lens material (CR-39, high index, Trivex…..etc.) instead of
being limited on using only Polycarbonate like most other competitors,
without the risk of chipping the lenses. This system also enables
opticians to recover the mistake when lenses are either edged or grooved
slightly bigger or smaller by prolonging or shortening the Nylon wire.
This system erased opticians’ fear in working on this type of frames
totally. The screw-less hinge design is also a popular function for the
public.

7000 Series
AK7000 was designed in 2005 with a different hinge design to present a bold, heavy appearance like acetate frames, but still carries the light weight and comfort as in AK8000 series. A magnetic polarized clip-on will be added to the collection in the coming Spring/Summer release.
